
Fishing & snow report
SKi and snow report:
Meadowlark Ski Lodge and Antelope Butte Ski Area are now open for the season. Both ski areas have all runs open with decent snow conditions throughout.
Cross Country skiing is good at Willow Park. Pole Creek is opened and groomed but ski with caution as there is some thin snow coverage that persists.
Lake Desmet:
Lake DeSmet is frozen for the season. The ice has been reported to be between 5-8 inches and should be safe conditions throughout.
Small jigs or ice flies tipped with a mealworm or wax worm will be effective. Trout fisherman will have luck fishing deep with Large Tube Jigs with a minnow or jigging Rapala.
Prairie Lakes and Ponds:
(Including Healy Reservoir, and Muddy Guard Reservoirs)
Muddy Guard Reservoirs are frozen for the season. Ice conditions have been reported between 7-10 inches and has safe condtions.
Small ice flies or jigs may be effective.
Healy Reservoir is frozen, and people are fishing. Ice conditions have been reported at 6-8 inches and has safe condtions.
Anglers are doing well catching Perch with ice jigs, tipped with mealworms.
Prairie Streams:
(Including Clear Creek, Crazy Woman Creek, Rock Creek and Piney Creek)
Lower elevation streams are low and iced over on slower moving sections.
Fly fishermen may have luck with a small beadhead nymph, Perdigon, or Squirmie Wormie would be good bets.
Spin Fishermen may have luck with tiny Spinners with Gold, Silver, or Copper Blades.
Worms may also be effective.
Mountain Streams:
(Including Clear Creek, Crazy Woman Creek, Rock Creek, Piney Creek and Tensleep Creek and their tributaries)
Bighorn mountain streams are frozen over for the season.
Mountain Lakes:
(Including Tie Hack Reservoir, Meadowlark Lake, and Cloud Peak Wilderness Lakes)
Bighorn Mountain lakes are all frozen. There is enough ice for fishing above 7000’.
Small ice flies or jigs tipped with a mealworm will be effective.
